Stalled is a contemporary musical that blends spoken word, and original songs to explore the inner lives of women navigating moments of change.
The musical follows a frazzled mother, a neurodivergent daughter, a fierce teenage poet, and a queer computer scientist as they find solace in a Seattle office building’s women’s restroom. What begins as fleeting interactions with the bathroom’s attendant gradually reveals shared fears, private grief, and the courage required to move forward.
Intimate in scale and ensemble-focused, Stalled examines themes of motherhood, daughterhood, identity, addiction, loss, forgiveness, and love with humor, empathy, and emotional honesty. Designed for flexible staging, the musical centers character and connection, allowing productions to adapt the work to a range of theatrical contexts.
